Jaguar’s E-Type Reborn
Jaguar’s E-Type is a bona fide icon. It’s a car that turns pretty much everybody’s head, and its shape is an actual work of art. Its name turns up in Instagram comments sections and in ad copy, and for good reason – it’s gorgeous from every angle, it sounds great, and it drives like an absolute dream. It’s also a big investment, so it’s one that should be approached with educated caution. The E-Type Reborn programme is designed to address all of that. It’s a new project from Jaguar, and the firm claims that it will create six perfectly restored examples of the Series 1 Lightweight cars from the original run of cars in 2015. Jaguar says these will be exact reproductions, with ‘perfect specifications’.

These cars are built using Jaguar’s state-of-the-art scanning technology, and the hugely detailed scans have allowed the team to evaluate the bodyshells down to a fraction of a millimeter. The bare metal bodies have then been hand-built and finished to Jaguar’s high standards.
These cars will use a new 4.2-litre straight-six XK engine, and the firm has made sure that the power output will match the originals’ 265 hp. They’ll be fitted with a Moss four-speed manual gearbox, or for the US market a Jaguar all synchromesh gearbox.
